Hongdae Halloween 2015: Female Edition

lostaruban halloween nishika (13)

During last Halloween I hit the streets of Hongdae with a friend and we took photos of the wonderfully dressed up people there. I used my Nishika N8000 ( the older and heavier brother of the N9000). It is a heavier camera but so far more dependable and I prefer the forward lever compared to the forward spool of the N9000. I threw on a small lomo flash and I hit the streets.

Lady above had probably my favorite costumer with the Liechtenstein homage, but it was the last frame of the roll and I must have opened the camera at one point, getting a major light leak.

Pinhole on the road again

I took my wide angle pinhole Sharan on the road again. I used some Fuji Superia 200 and visited different places in Seoul. I guessed the exposure times and overexposed a number of the shots resulting in some color shifts. The photos that had too much of a color shift to fix I turned into black and white shots as you can see when you  scroll down.

This was probably my favourite photo of the roll. If you look at the path you can see the movement of the various hikers moving from right to left, especially the one person in a purple jacket.

These photos really work much better than the original color version.

The white ghost like figure is a person in a bunny suit. The pinhole is so wide it even captured our shoes.

An old Russian Camera and a autumn weekend in Seoul

I’ve had the Lubitel for about 6 years now and I think I’ve shot a total of 6 rolls through it. That’s a pretty poor average. I just never really got the hang of it. It is missing some small pieces in the back leading to some lightleaks. I tape it up pretty well before shooting with it but even then light still manages to sneak in. But the whole photographic process is so different with a TLR that it still is kinda fun when using it. The exposures come out pretty well even though I don’t have a lightmeter and just guess most of the exposures.

So I threw in some Lomo 100 film in the Lubitel and took it out into Seoul for some photos. Surprisingly the Lomo roll was the cheapest roll of film I was able to find on the website I normally buy my film from. I am pretty sure that is not the normal Lomo pricing strategy.

I always like the aesthetic from the square framing that a TLR produces. Using a small magnifying glass in the viewfinder makes focussing a lot easier.

3-D Hong Kong

The plastic Nishika visit to Hong Kong. It was hot, it was crowded but it is always worth a visit. We managed to stay in Mong Kok this time and it was nice and close to the markets. Like usual these were all taken with Fuji Superia 200.

This guy was pretty cool. He was setting up his ultralight tripod with a film camera in front of all the different soccer players to take a portrait of himself. I wonder what kinda film he uses. He kinda looks like a Kodak gold kinda guy.

For this particular photo I left the frames in. I just wanted a different look. I feel it kinda works even though it is a bit hectic. As you can see the frama a Nishika creates is not as narrow as the photos you see on this page. Cropping is at fault here.

Heejung at Yongma-land

Yongma-land is a bankrupt theme park. Not functioning but still open for business. For a mere 5000 won you too can visit these world of past wonder and fun. Its kinda interesting because there aren’t many people around and you get to see the rusting rides, pose for photos where you normally cannot.

All shot with my Nishika and fuji superia 200 film. Most of them using a fill in flash.

Hong Kong in sprockets

I brought my sprocket rocket along to Hong Kong packed with some Fuji Superia 200 film. Took it out for day time and night time pics. I normally count about 2 to 3 seconds when taking a long exposure at night. Negative film is pretty forgiving. Some of the photos were underexposed due to my flash not firing ( have since fixed that issue).

The famous view from Victoria’s peak. We didn’t take the tram but the bus instead which gives you a nice view of the other side of Hong Kong. It takes a bit longer but the line waiting for the tram was huge so maybe time wise there isn’t that much of a difference.

Underexposed shot. It’s darker between the tall building than I expected hence the underexposure.
